White House confirms 25% rates for those who negotiate oil from Venezuela
The White House has confirmed, through an executive order, that a 25% rate could be imposed from April 2 on all imported products to the United States of any country that imports Venezuelan oil, either directly from Venezuela or indirectly through third parties.
“The president of the United States of America considers that the actions and policies of the Nicolás Maduro regime in Venezuela continue to represent an unusual and extraordinary threat to national security and foreign policy,” the White House said.
The order also points out that the activities of the Aragua Tren gang, a transnational criminal organization originating from Venezuela and designated as a foreign terrorist organization and a specially designated global terrorist organization, intensified this threat.
