Rabbi Zvi Kogan, found dead this Sunday (24), was on a mission to expand Jewish knowledge in the United Arab Emirates.
Who was Zvi Kogan
Rabbi was an emissary of the Chabad movement in Abu Dhabi. Kogan, who was 28 years old, worked alongside the chief rabbi of the Jewish community in the United Arab Emirates, Levi Duchman. He is survived by his wife, Rivky, to whom he had been married since 2022. Before living in the United Arab Emirates, he joined the Israeli Army.
Kogan’s mission was to expand knowledge of Judaism. Of Israeli-Moldovan origin, the dead rabbi belonged to Chabad, an ultra-Orthodox Hasidic movement to reinforce Jewish identity and bring Jews closer to their faith. The operation in the United Arab Emirates occurred after the country normalized diplomatic relations with Israel in 2000.
