Wisconsin shooter linked to California man who planned separate attack
The teenager who killed a teacher and a classmate at her school in the US state of Wisconsin this week was in contact, via text, with a California man who was planning his own massacre, according to press reports, which cite court documents.
News of the connection between 15-year-old Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow and the Carlsbad, Calif., man came after authorities worked to figure out exactly what motivated her to carry out Monday’s attack at Abundant Life Christian School, in Madison. In addition to two deaths, she injured six people, before turning the weapon on herself.
In Wisconsin, the Dane County medical department identified the two people killed at the school as 14-year-old Rubi Vergara and Erin West, a 42-year-old teacher. Both died at the scene.
