With an eye on Minas, Pacheco calls Lula the 'greatest democrat' in the history of Brazil

Senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) called President Lula (PT) an “extraordinary human figure” and the “greatest democrat” in the history of Brazil during a speech this Friday, 20th, in Sete Lagoas (MG).

The compliment was made at a school bus delivery event at the Iveco factory, in the central region of the state, and comes at a time when the former president of the Senate is pressured by Lula to accept being the government’s candidate for Palácio Tiradentes.

Chosen by the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, to speak on behalf of the parliamentarians present, Pacheco defended the policy of achievements and criticized, without mentioning names, politicians who prioritize social networks.

“Day-to-day politics is done through this type of thing: doing things effectively. Getting out of the discourse a little, getting out of social media a little and working day to day”, he stated.

As published by EstadãoLula’s insistence has had an effect and the tendency is for the senator to make his candidacy official, although interlocutors say that he must accept the mission “discouraged”. The president’s entourage sees in Pacheco the chance to secure a platform in Minas, the second largest electoral college in the country and considered to be the balance in presidential elections.

In addition to the nod to Lula, Pacheco said he was “optimistic that we have good paths for Minas Gerais” and preached “unity and a feeling of solidarity” among those present. Federal deputies Rogério Correia (PT), Reginaldo Lopes (PT) and Duda Salabert (PDT) were at the event, as well as state deputy Leninha (PT), president of the PT in Minas.

The senator is leaving the PSD, which already has vice-governor Mateus Simões as a candidate to succeed Romeu Zema (Novo), and the tendency is for him to join União Brasil in the coming days.
