Yemeni missile hits park in south Tel Aviv and injures at least 14 people
A missile launched from Yemen hit a public park in Jaffa, south of Tel Aviv, Israel, and left at least 14 people injured.
What happened
- The attack was confirmed by the Israel Defense Forces. The Israeli army said it was unable to intercept the missile.
- Sirens sounded after the missile was launched. The alert happened at 3:44 am today (10:44 pm yesterday in Brasília) and made people look for shelter.
- The victims suffered minor injuries, according to paramedics. They were hit by shrapnel shortly after the missile hit.
- The Houthi group, from Yemen and supported by Iran, has carried out several drone and missile attacks against Israel. The rebel group claims to act in solidarity with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the scene of a war between Israel and Hamas since the attack by the Palestinian Islamic group on October 7, 2023.
