Zambelli Defense asks for more deadline to vacate functional apartment
The defense of licensed deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) requested the House of Representatives to extend the deadline to return the functional apartment in Brasilia. The request, made by lawyer Fabio Pagnozzi to the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), proposes that the eviction will take place until next Tuesday (15).
In the letter, obtained by CNN Brazil, The defense states that the parliamentarian was not formally notified and that he learned of the requirement only through the press. “In a strange scenario, the information about it came to its knowledge exclusively and only through the press, which, by itself, justifies the impossibility of fulfilling any period previously established for eviction,” says the document.

The defense also argues that the regiment of the house admits interpretations that would allow the permanence of Zambelli’s family in the property, on the grounds that its parliamentary situation is still being analyzed by the House.
According to reports, the functional apartment is still occupied by the mother and son of the deputy, who would have left the country after having his custody decreed by the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The parliamentarian now tries to find another place to accommodate her family in Brasilia.
Zambelli graduated from office in June, which, according to the rules of the House, imposes the return of the functional property within 30 days-a deadline that won last Friday (4). If the vacancy does not occur at the expected time, the house may apply a fine of R $ 4,253 per month of irregular occupation, as well as proportional daily compensation.
The defense also requests any financial penalties to be suspended until the new deadline. Deputy Colonel Tadeu (PL-SP), who assumed Zambelli’s mandate, did not express interest in occupying the property.
The situation occurs while the licensed deputy remains at large. Zambelli left Brazil in May after being sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Supreme Court for involvement in cyber crimes and attempted abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law. She is the target of Interpol’s red alert.
