ZANIN PAUTA COMPLAINT THAT ATTRAPTS TO PL MEMBERS

Minister Cristiano Zanin of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) asked that the judgment of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) who attributes to deputies Josimar Maranhãozinho (MA) and Pastor Gil (MA) to the judgment of the First Class (PGR). Substitute Bosco Costa (SE), all from PL, corruption in the distribution of parliamentary amendments.

“Include the deed on a trial agenda, so that it will deliberate on the complaint offered by the Attorney General’s Office and the other requests,” says the order.

Parliamentarians deny irregularities in the direction of resources. The defenses asked the Supreme Court to reject the complaint for lack of evidence.

The judgment date has not yet been set. The first class meets every 15 days. Ministers Alexandre de Moraes, Carmen Lúcia, Luiz Fux, Flávio Dino and Cristiano Zanin make up the collegiate.

An alteration in the Supreme Court’s Internal Regulations in 2023 allowed complaints and criminal actions to be judged by the classes, composed of five ministers, and not exclusively by the Plenary.

The ministers will decide whether there are enough elements to receive the complaint, offered in September, which would bring a criminal case against deputies for corruption and criminal organization.

The investigation that led to the complaint is an offshoot of an operation that started in Maranhão in December 2020. During the inquiry, the Federal Police obtained images of Josimar Maranhãozinho handling a large amount of money that, according to the corporation, would have been obtained with the deviation of amendments.

The PGR concluded that the deputies negotiated amendments with the City of São José de Ribamar, in Greater São Luís, in exchange for a “percentage” for the funds passed on. According to the Attorney General’s Office, parliamentarians requested bribes of R $ 1.66 million in exchange of R $ 6.67 million for the municipality.

“The informative elements show, therefore, that the accused formed criminal organization, led by Josimar Maranhãozinho, focused on the improper marketing of parliamentary amendments,” says the complaint.
