Zema says he feels honored, but that he did not receive an offer to be Flávio’s deputy
The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), stated that he feels honored by the consideration, but that he did not receive an invitation to be vice-president in the candidacy of senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) for the Presidency of the Republic. The statements took place at an event by the Parliamentary Front for the Free Market, in Brasília, this Tuesday, 3.
At the time, Zema was asked by journalists if he had received any proposals from the national president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, who referred to the governor of Minas Gerais as an “excellent deputy” in an interview with Jovem Pan News last week.
‘There is a climate of convergence; names will settle down’, says Flávio, about alliances
The senator said he hopes to attract the support of center-right parties, even in a possible second round
“Firstly, I am very honored by any consideration, invitation in this regard, but I did not receive it,” said Zema. Afterwards, the governor said that he will keep his name for the Palácio do Planalto. “But, as I have said several times, I will take my pre-candidacy and candidacy until the end, because I consider myself a candidate somewhat outside the system, someone who has a very long career in the private sector, and I see that politics in Brazil needs different ideas”.
Opportunity with security!
The governor of Minas Gerais also said that, in a possible second round in this year’s election, he will support any candidacy that will be contrary to the PT. “The candidate who is against the PT, I will be supporting in the second round. That candidate could be me, it could be Flávio and it could also be the one that the PSD chooses. Anyone who is against the PT, I will be supporting in Minas Gerais, as I did in 2022 with (Jair) Bolsonaro.”
Last week, the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), said that former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who is trapped in “Papudinha”, views any candidacy contrary to the PT with “favorable eyes”, as he believes it will join Flávio’s campaign in the second round. Tarcísio also said that he is keeping his name for re-election in São Paulo and that he will support Flávio.
Currently, in addition to Zema, there are three other presidential candidates being debated in the political universe, all in the PSD: the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado; the governor of Paraná, Ratinho Júnior, and the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Ratinho Júnior.
