Haddad says opposition has politicized US fares as in “no other country”

Haddad: Government told Congress that IOF is prerogative, but it is open to negotiating

Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said on Monday that from May to July, the issue of tariffs was politicized by the opposition to mix the commercial issue with politics. “And the United States has the right, a democratic government, has the right to seek the solution to its economy even though it does not meet the world, even if it has caused some perplexity because it is an unusual solution that could be avoided in relation to the country, which was liberal until another day,” the minister said in an interview with Band News.

Even so, according to him, this fact must be considered: “It was politicized in a way that no other country has lived,” he said. “And we are talking about non -democratic countries, countries that have authoritarian governments, countries that have despotic governments. And, not so, the tariffs were used for political purpose. Here, because opposition has mobilized against national interests, the position of the United States of America has changed from May to July,” he said.

Brazil has rare land and can make cooperation agreements with USA, says Haddad

Haddad stated that Brazil wants to expand partnerships with the US, but not in the condition of satellite or colony of the US country

For him, the government has to seek to depolitize the commercial debate. According to Haddad, international trade cannot be used for the electoral interests of a country that wants to see Brazil ruled by forces that want to deliver national wealth, including rare lands, critical minerals. “Pix, for example, that we understand that it has to be kept under the responsibility of our Central Bank, all of which are national sovereignty issues that have nothing to do with commercial debate. We need to understand that, first, we are a sovereign and democratic country.”

Still, said Haddad, “we have independent powers of each other.” “President Lula cannot get a matter of a matter that concerns another power, so we have been constitutional rules since 1988 that are established; so there are a number of questions that need to be led to the consideration of a country, which until the other day was our partner, to understand the functioning of our democracy, which is different from there.”
