Spotify will warn users about using AI in music
Once these metadata (additional information besides the basic data) is integrated, “we will start showing them in the app,” promised Sam Duboff, responsible for Spotify’s musical marketing.
The system works voluntarily, and Spotify does not require those who climb content on the platform indicate the role of AI in its production.
“At first, people had a binary vision: it is or not,” he explained during a presentation Charlie Hellman, Spotify executive. “But actually,” he continued, “we see that AI is used in many different ways in all stages of the process.”
Spotify does not intend to “punish artists who use AI in an authentic and responsible way,” said Hellman.
According to Duboff, “more than 15 record labels and distributors” have already committed the following platform to the DDEx standard.
Deezer is, so far, the only large audio platform that systematically signals the titles generated completely by artificial intelligence.
