Eduardo Bolsonaro has 50 unjustified absences and could lose his mandate
Representative Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) reached 50 unexcused absences in sessions of the Chamber of Deputies and could lose his parliamentary mandate. The calculation disregards the period from March 18 to July 20, 2025, when he was licensed. Eduardo has been in the United States since March and did not attend the sessions.
The Federal Constitution stipulates that a deputy may lose his mandate if he misses, without justification, one third or more of the ordinary sessions throughout the legislative year. The rule does not consider absences covered by an officially authorized leave or mission.

On November 14, deputy Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ) presented a draft resolution that proposes continuous monitoring of attendance and immediate initiation of the process of losing the mandate when non-attendance occurs.
The parliamentarian states that the current model allows delays in the investigation. According to him, by providing that the presence report will only be sent by March 5 of the following year, the Chamber creates an “unconstitutional tolerance”.
The final count of absences, however, tends to be made and forwarded to the President of the Chamber only in March of next year, in accordance with a rule established by the Board of Directors of the House in 2017.
