Kassab: Lula said he will be with Eduardo Paes, he can't talk

The national president of the PSD, Gilberto Kassab, denied that the mayor of Rio de Janeiro (PSD-RJ), Eduardo Paes, has indicated that he will support President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for re-election in 2026. “Lula is the one who said he is with him. And he cannot say no”, he stated in an interview with Free Channelfrom Band.

Kassab also said that three presidential candidates want to be on Paes’ platform in the elections, but that the PSD has an advantage. “Lula will be on Eduardo Paes’s platform, (governor) Cláudio Castro (PL-RJ) and our candidate will also be on his platform. So Eduardo Paes will have three candidates who want to be with him, but I think ours will have an advantage, because he is from the same party, same standard and will have a big vote”, he observed.

Castro is supported by senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), who is also a pre-candidate for President.

Opportunity with security!

For Lula, it is strategic to guarantee a platform in Rio de Janeiro, the second largest electoral college in the country. The PSD is moving to launch its own candidacy for the Presidency, but maintains positions in the federal government.
