Márcio França leaves Entrepreneurship, does not accept MDIC and will focus on the elections

The Minister of Entrepreneurship, Microenterprise and Small Businesses, Márcio França, announced his resignation from the position to focus on this year’s election in São Paulo. The report was published on its social network on platform X, on Thursday night, 2.

In the text, França reported that the decision was taken in a meeting with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), during the afternoon.

“I was with President @LulaOficial today and, together, we defined the best path forward. This Holy Week, I begin by thanking him and Vice President @geraldoalckmin for their trust in allowing me to serve the Brazilian people as Minister of State. It was an honor and a privilege”, he wrote.

França thanked the Ministry’s public servants who, according to him, were on “important missions”, mentioned the department’s achievements and spoke about his plan to return to São Paulo.

“I know São Paulo’s challenges firsthand. A vibrant state, decisive for Brazil’s success in the world, which requires responsibility, balance and leadership. No more puppets. São Paulo leads, not is led”, he said.

The minister also informed: “In view of this, and looking to the future, I leave the Ministry and withdraw from the Federal Government on April 2nd, Maundy Thursday. A necessary step for this new moment.”

He added: “From now on, I focus my efforts alongside our PSB team and on the project for São Paulo and Brazil.”

Former governor of São Paulo, France took office at the Ministry of Entrepreneurship in September 2023, as a member of the PSB. Previously, he headed the Ministry of Ports and Airports, but was replaced by a name from the Republicans, Silvio Costa Filho.
