Organized Crime CPI gathers signatures to extend work

The Organized Crime CPI should gain additional momentum in the Senate after rapporteur Alessandro Vieira announced that he has already gathered the necessary signatures to extend the collegiate’s work for another 60 days. The current deadline ends on April 14, and the final decision on the extension rests with the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre.

According to Vieira, the commission still has pending statements and a relevant volume of documents to be analyzed before preparing the final report.

“We obtained the necessary signatures for its extension, as we still have important statements to make and a lot of documentation to analyze,” said the senator in a post on social media.

The attempt to extend the deadline occurs amid the intensification of the CPI’s agenda this week, with at least four hearings planned. Among the central themes is the advancement of investigations into financial operations linked to Banco Master.

One of the awaited statements is that of the former governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha, called to provide clarification on decisions involving the BRB and its relationship with the Master case.

Hearings from the national secretary of Penal Policies, André de Albuquerque Garcia, are also planned, focusing on the territorial control of factions within the prison system, and from economists Roberto Campos Neto and Gabriel Galípolo. Campos Neto was called up again after a previous absence, while Galípolo will participate as a guest.
