Michelle says that PL did not approve Izalci’s pre-candidacy for the DF government
Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) reacted this Thursday, 16th, to the announcement of senator Izalci Lucas (PL-DF) as a pre-candidate for the Government of the Federal District and stated that she received the information with “strangeness”. According to her, the Liberal Party leaders did not endorse Izalci’s movement and indicated support for the re-election of the current governor of the DF, Celina Leão (PP).
“I clarify that I was in direct contact with the president of the DF directory, deputy Bia Kicis, who was categorical in stating that no meeting, deliberation or alignment took place to support this statement,” said Michelle, in a note published on her social networks. “I also reinforce that, in a meeting at the Liberal Party with President Valdemar Costa Neto, support for Celina Leão’s pre-candidacy was defined”, he adds.
On Thursday afternoon, Izalci Lucas, leader of the opposition in the National Congress, confirmed in a press release his pre-candidacy for the DF government in the 2026 elections. However, according to Michelle, within the PL there is “no legitimate construction in this sense”.
“Real politics is done with responsibility, dialogue and commitment to the word”, counters the former first lady.
In the pre-candidacy announcement, Izalci criticized the management of Celina Leão and former governor Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), who resigned from his position on May 30 to run for the Federal Senate.
“In 2026, we will have the opportunity to choose between continuing the current problems or building a Brasília that works for everyone,” he declared in the statement. He also informed that he understands the existence of his own candidacy as “natural and necessary”.
In an interview with Correio Braziliense on Wednesday, the 14th, the senator claimed that he already appears in a technical tie in the polls with Celina Leão even before he was officially announced as a candidate for the PL.
Estadão contacted the senator and is awaiting a response.
