MFO, Used Syringes and Botox expired: Anvisa closes 8 aesthetic clinics
Of the nine clinics inspected, only one had no irregularities. In the others, there were cosmetics and injectable drugs and phenol bottles, a substance forbidden by Anvisa for lack of proof of safety and effectiveness.
One of the establishments had no patient safety protocol, and the teams discovered notes for two cases of infection. One by mycobacteria, after procedures performed at the clinic. These cases had not been notified to the public health system, contrary to the legislation, which establishes compulsory notification for serious infections.

In one of the six establishments surveyed in Belo Horizonte, the inspectors found that instruments for skin microagulating were reused in several patients. According to Anvisa, the devices pierce the skin with needles under the promise of stimulating collagen production and improving skin texture.
During the process, blood and secretions are generated, which implies that each device should be used only once per patient, and then discarded. Reuse of these materials involves the risk of transmission of infections and diseases.

The operation caught filling products, such as hyaluronic acid, already open and used, awaiting new use, as well as failures in sterilization of utensils. Unique products were also found being reprocessed for new use, which is expressly prohibited.
