Alckmin, on Caiado’s candidacy: “I don’t discourage anyone from being a candidate”

The acting president, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), said this Saturday, the 18th, that he does not “discourage anyone from being a candidate”, in reference to the former governor of Goiás Ronaldo Caiado (PSD).

Alckmin spoke to the press after a visit to a dealership in Valparaíso de Goiás (GO), about 35 kilometers from Brasília. He was asked by the press whether the visit to the State of Goiás had anything to do with Caiado’s pre-candidacy for the Presidency.

“No, it has nothing to do with it. I have been visiting dealerships for months. I have been making these visits when I can, on Saturdays, because it is a pleasure to see the results of good legislation, of good public policy”, he stated.

Alckmin added: “I don’t discourage anyone from being a candidate. I think that being a candidate is an act of love for others, of love for the country. I don’t discourage anyone, I have no problem with that. I strongly believe that, at the right time, when the electoral campaign really begins, the Brazilian government, President Lula’s government, has a lot to show.”

Regulatory framework

The acting president, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), said this Saturday, 18, that the government and Congress are discussing a regulatory framework for the critical minerals sector. He praised the rapporteur, deputy Arnaldo Jardim (Cidadania-SP), and stated that the parliamentarian should present his opinion “in the coming weeks”.

“At the moment, the regulatory framework is being discussed (of critical minerals and rare earths), which is legislation. In fact, the rapporteur is a good deputy, deputy Arnaldo Jardim. He is expected to present his report in the coming weeks. So, we will have a good regulatory framework”, he said.

Alckmin spoke to the press after a visit to a dealership in Valparaíso de Goiás (GO), about 35 kilometers from Brasília.

The acting president said that the critical minerals and rare earths sector “will experience enormous growth” and that “Brazil is among the countries with the largest reserves”.

“We don’t just want to export commodities. We want to add value. So, you can add value in Brazil, you can advance in technology, advance in refining, in industrial products with higher added value, that’s what we want,” he declared.
