Alckmin values STF role and announces work to reduce American tariffs
Vice-President and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, commented on Friday (12) the judgment of the Supreme Court (STF) that sentenced former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and other defendants for attempted coup after the 2022 elections.
According to Alckmin, Brazil owes “fair and necessary recognition” to the Federal Police (PF), the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and the Supreme Court (STF) for the exemplary fulfillment of the mission of defending freedoms and democracy.
“It is necessary to do this recognition to the exemplary work done by the three institutions,” he said in an interview with journalists during a agenda in Sorriso (MT). “What makes a difference are good institutions. The institutions are permanent,” he added.
Tariff
Alckmin also commented on the tariff applied by the United States to Brazilian products, highlighting the exclusion of cellulose, which had a 10% tariff and was zeroed this week.
The vice president reaffirmed that Brazil “is no problem” for Americans, due to the commercial surplus that the country maintains with the US. “Brazil helps the American trade balance. And we will work to exclude more sectors and reduce this rate.”
“We are working to resolve this tariff issue permanently and we believe it is possible to move forward,” he concluded.
