Alexandre Frota loses mandate councilor for associating Jean Wyllys with pedophilia

Former federal deputy Alexandre Frota lost his mandate as councilor of Cotia (SP) after the final conviction in a lawsuit against him by former deputy Jean Wyllys.

Elected in 2024 by the PDT, Fleet is licensed by the City Council because he holds the position of Secretary of Institutional Relations of the City Hall of Cotia.

The mayor of Cotia, Osmar Danilo da Silva (Republicans), formalized, on Friday, 3, the rite of the loss of mandate “due to the criminal conviction for willful crime, with definitive and irrecoverable sentence.”

The conviction refers to a lawsuit filed by then deputy Jean Wyllys, former PSOL and today in the PT, because of a defamatory publication on social networks made by Alexandre Frota in 2017.

Fleet attributed to the then parliamentary a phrase never dictated by him: “Pedophilia is a normal practice in various species of animal (sic), abnormal is its prejudice.”

He was convicted in 2018. In the following years, he accumulated defeats in reversal claims to the judiciary. The lawsuit became final, that is, it came to an end without chances of new resources in August.

Alexandre Frota was convicted of slander and defamation, with a sentence of two years and 26 days of detention, in open regime. The penalty must be replaced by the provision of community services.

“Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts,” said Lucas Mourão, Jean Wyllys’s lawyer in the case.

The loss of mandate is because the Federal Constitution provides for the loss of mandate in cases of final criminal conviction.

This Saturday, Alexandre Frota commented on the cassation, not to mention the fact that originated the process and its criminal conviction. He only thanked the support demonstrations he said he received after the loss of his mandate.

“I’m fine, it’s all right. Let’s go ahead, let’s go through this one. God gives me strength and health for me to walk and help other people. Rest assured, it’s okay. I’m just going to thank,” he said.

A former porn movie-actor, Alexandre Frota was elected federal deputy in 2018 by the PSL, as a member of Jair Bolsonaro’s support base. He was expelled from the party in 2019 for criticism of the then President of the Republic and joined the PSDB.

In 2022, he tried a mandate as a state deputy in Sao Paulo, but did not get enough votes. In 2024, he was elected in Cotia, municipality of the São Paulo Metropolitan Region, by the PDT.
