All your health data in one place: utopia or possibility?

And how is AI being used in electronic medical records?
Today we use AI agents that accompany the patient’s journey. They may remember a medicine time or help the doctor during surgery, such as a kind of “Alexa Medical”. We have, for example, a system in which the surgeon is saying what he is doing, and AI writes the report automatically, warns if there was a lack of procedure and verifies possible inconsistencies. The idea is that AI will act as an assistant, always respecting the LGPD.

About AI, it is important to say that if the database is bad, it generates bad results. Therefore, it is essential to have quality data, registered correctly, with clear protocols. It is no use feeding an AI with information from outside the Brazilian context. We need a national, safe and structured base.

Given all this, do you believe that the electronic medical record, as we know today, will cease to exist?
Yes. I believe that soon the medical record will be completely integrated with the usage experience. The doctor will no longer type or fill screens. He will talk, and AI will register, organize and suggest. The technology barrier will disappear. Just as WhatsApp democratized communication, AI agents will democratize access to digital health.

What are the big bets of MV for the coming years?
The main focus is on interoperability. We are investing a lot to connect systems, integrate data and build a continuous patient journey. We recently launched, even in Las Vegas, the concept of connected health, and we are implementing this in large hospitals such as the Real Portuguese Hospital in Pernambuco. We also have projects approved with FINEP to develop a natural health language model focused on Portuguese in Brazil -algo that does not yet exist in the world. Another challenge is the cost of AI, which is still very high. We need to make it accessible.

We are already present in eight Latin American countries and Angola. And soon we will enter the US. But our focus today is still Brazil – because here there is a lot to do. SUS, for example, is one of the most robust public systems in the world. What is missing is connectivity, interoperability and political will. SUS can, yes, be a global reference in digital health.

¹ This is an intelligent Speaker Speaker for Surgical Centers, which acts by voice commands, accesses protocols, summarizes historical and automates records during high complexity procedures. It is a virtual assistant commanded by voice, designed to optimize the surgical journey.
