As a police discovered more than 100kg of gold hidden in pickup

Federal Highway Police agents seized 103 pounds of massive gold hidden on the panel of a pickup truck that was driving a highway in Roraima, on Monday afternoon, 4. Evaluated at approximately R $ 62 million according to the current quotation, the gold load is the largest already seized by the Federal Highway Police in Brazil. The driver of the vehicle was arrested.

Police officers carried out an inspection on BR-401 at the time of Ponte dos Macuxis, in Boa Vista, shortly after noon, when they approached a Hilux pickup truck driven by a 30-year-old man and his 32-year-old wife and a son of the nine-month couple were traveling.

“We approached and, when checking the interior of the car, we realized signs that some parts had been moved. This led us to deepen the inspection. These vehicles are usually part of already mapped routes, but the PRF is always patrolling and using police techniques to identify suspicious behaviors. G1.

In all, more than 100 gold bars were found hidden in the vehicle, which is not registered in the driver’s name. The PRF did not say on behalf of who is the truck.

Gold was sent to the Federal Police headquarters in Boa Vista, and the institution will continue with investigations to discover the origin, destination and ownership of the material. For now, the suspicion is that the gold came from Rondônia and could be taken to Venezuela or Guyana.

The report did not find representatives of the driver to speak up of his arrest.
