Bolsonaro evolves in a 'satisfactory way', with 'discreet improvement', doctor tells the STF

The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) spoke out this Friday, the 24th, stating that it “does not oppose” Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) request to perform surgery. Attorney General Paulo Gonet recalled that in the last health report sent to the Federal Supreme Court (STF), doctors reported that despite showing “progressive improvement in his respiratory condition” and “stabilization of hiccups”, the former president complains of “recurrent and intermittent pain in his right shoulder”.

Now, with Gonet’s statement, it will be up to Moraes to authorize the surgical procedure or not. Bolsonaro’s defense has already informed the STF that there is an indication for surgery to treat pain in his right shoulder.

The statement appears in an appeal, presented at the end of March, which was under judicial secrecy, and has now been removed from secrecy.

The medical report was sent by Bolsonaro’s defense and signed by the doctor Brasil Caiado, responsible for his treatment.

The former president had humanitarian house arrest granted for 90 days by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, for his recovery, after being discharged from the hospital. Last month, he was diagnosed with “bilateral bacterial bronchopneumonia of probable aspiration origin” and had to be admitted to intensive care for two weeks.

Furthermore, the document highlights that “the main complaint at the moment refers to recurrent and intermittent pain in the right shoulder, both at rest and with movements of the right upper limb”. Bolsonaro’s doctors expect him to undergo surgery to treat shoulder pain.

“At an appropriate time to be defined, the patient must undergo complementary pre-operative control exams”, wrote the doctor in the report.

The former president has been receiving medical care at his home since March 30th.
