CFM prohibits the use of anesthesia and sedation for tattooing
The exception is for cases of tattoos indicated by doctors to reconstruct body parts. An example of this is the procedure that aims to restore the appearance of the nipple and areola after mastectomy, using pigments to create three -dimensional illusion or to add color.
In January, an influencer died after taking general anesthesia to be tattooed. Ricardo Godoi, 46, would have had a respiratory problem after sedation in Itapema (SC). The physician responsible for anesthesizing him was denounced for manslaughter, as he did not consult with the patient.
The practice is also common among famous. Last year, MC Daniel showed the seven -hour process to cover his back in a medical center and with anesthesia. In video, he appears lying down, with a cap and under the first effects of anesthetic. Then at least four people are seen by getting the colorful tattoo at the same time.
What are the risks of tattoo sedation?
They are the same as surgery and patient conditions may prevent procedure. “There are factors related to procedures, such as the intensity and extension of intervention, and factors related to the physical conditions of the patient himself, such as the presence of diseases that can compromise and even prevent the performance of elective procedures,” said the Brazilian Anesthesiology Society (SBA) in a statement on the subject released in October last year.
Patient should be accompanied all the time by anesthetist. The risk is not about the tattoo, but with general anesthesia, a delicate procedure that affects the whole body. The doctor needs to be next to the patient following breathing, ventilation, pressure, heartbeat, body temperature and other possible changes.
