Ciro Nogueira says he advised Bolsonaro and reinforced support for Tarcísio or Ratinho
The president of the PP, senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), met this afternoon with former president Jair Bolsonaro. According to the party leader, the conversation allowed the two to exchange views on the electoral scenario for 2026.
– I always give my advice, I listen to his guidance, you can’t talk to him without talking about 2026 – he said.
The senator did not say whether he spoke with the former president about the names of possible candidates for the Palácio do Planalto, but after the meeting he reinforced that he evaluates the names of the governors of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), and of Paraná, Ratinho Júnior (PSD), as more viable alternatives.

–I already stated, he is not my favorite, my favorite is President Bolsonaro. As this is not viable, I think the viable candidates we have in the country today are Governor Tarcísio and Governor Ratinho. I think they are the ones that would lead to the easiest victory – declared the PP president.
Ciro had already said in an interview with GLOBO that Tarcísio or Ratinho would be the candidates who would unite the opposition. On social media, the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União), who is also trying to run for president, reacted for not having been mentioned and called Ciro “almost an ex-senator”.
The PP is negotiating a federation with União Brasil, which would force both parties to have the same candidate. The senator, who was Bolsonaro’s Civil House minister, minimized Caiado’s discomfort.
–I have nothing against Governor Caiado, he is a great governor. Candidates have to show viability, time will tell if they are viable or not. I’m not the one who’s going to stop or support your candidacy, it’s the people who have to support it. Now, I command the federation.
Bolsonaro’s former minister also avoided placing himself as a vice candidate on a ticket created by the opposition and said that the position will only be defined after defining who will be the candidate for Palácio do Planalto.
–I’m thinking about fulfilling my mandate as senator, I’m going to run for re-election. Let’s first choose our candidate for president and then we’ll discuss the issue of vice president.
