In X, he wrote that Jair Bolsonaro “sacrificed himself” on behalf of other convicts of January 8th. “Jair Bolsonaro is still far from returning home, but he accepted this heroic sacrifice for the greater good.”
The text approved by the Senate restricts the benefit of reduced sentences only to those convicted of the coup plot and January 8, closing loopholes in the version approved by the Chamber, which allowed those convicted of other crimes to also have their sentences reduced.
The text of the Dosimetry PL now goes to presidential sanction and Lula has already indicated that he should veto it.
Flávio Bolsonaro was nominated by his father to replace him as a candidate for President in 2026. Even though his sentences were reduced, Jair Bolsonaro is ineligible and should be imprisoned until 2029.
