Fuels: 'We are indicting those who take advantage to earn more', says Silveira

The Minister of Mines and Energy (MME), Alexandre Silveira, stated this Friday (3) that the government is acting to mitigate the effects of the war between the United States, Israel and Iran on the Brazilian fuel market.

In a video shared on his profile on the social network X, the minister highlights the integrated action against abusive prices.

“We are already acting and indicting those who, unfortunately, through usury, take advantage of the moment to be able to earn more than the natural fuel margin in Brazil”, he states.

According to the federal government, since March 9, 5,300 gas stations across Brazil and 322 fuel distributors have been inspected in a national task force to curb abusive increases.

“We are acting firmly and rigorously against the abuses of the gas station and distributor cartels. We are on the streets until we can achieve global normality”, says the message.

The National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP), the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade), in addition to the National Consumer Secretariats (Senacon) and Public Security (Senasp), the Federal Police, the Federal Highway Police and state Procons participate in the task force.

Since March 9, the ANP has already issued infraction notices against 85 gas stations and 19 fuel distributors. 16 fines were formalized against distributors for signs of abusive pricing. According to the agency, the fines imposed can reach R$500 million.

In addition to inspections, Silveira reinforces the importance of the provisional measure that implemented a subsidy of R$0.32 per liter for refineries and diesel importers to reduce fuel prices.
