Haddad says he is out of the question to give in to multinational pressures on pix

BRASILIA (Reuters)-Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said on Tuesday that he is out of the question to imagine that the Brazilian government will give in to tariff negotiation with the United States to pressures of multinational companies over Pix.

The PIX is mentioned in US investigation into open Brazil on the grounds of evaluating unjust, discriminatory or restrictive trade measures to the US country.

“Imagine that we will give in to the pressure of multinationals that are bothering with a technology … This is completely out of question,” Haddad said at a meeting of the Council for Economic and Social Development, the so -called Conselão in Brasilia.

At the event, the minister also stated that commodities currently exported to the United States and will be targeted by the 50% tariff imposed by Americans will naturally find other markets.

Haddad said one third of Brazil’s exports to the US will be affected by the tariff, noting that more than half of these impacted products are commodities.

Still, according to him, there are “very vulnerable” sectors to the fare that will receive special government attention.
