Hugo Motta: I determined the creation of a special commission on increasing the MEI limit
The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), reported this Thursday, 16, that he determined the creation of a special commission to analyze the project that increases the revenue limit for individual microentrepreneurs (MEIs).
The committee’s rapporteur will be deputy Jorge Goetten (Republicanos-SC), and the president, Any Ortiz (PP-RS). In a video published on Instagram on Thursday night, Motta defended the measure and said that the government, microentrepreneurs and experts will be heard.
“We know that it is a measure that generates a strong fiscal impact, but it also generates what Brazil needs: employment, income and revenue,” said Motta, in a recorded video.
Currently, professionals with annual revenues of up to R$81,000 are considered MEI. There is a proposal underway in the Chamber that increases this ceiling to R$130 thousand. An opinion in the Chamber’s Finance and Taxation Committee (CFT) extended the limit to almost R$145 thousand.
