In a new conversation, Lula and Trump resume negotiations on the removal of tariffs

The federal government confirmed this Tuesday (2) that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) spoke by telephone with Donald Trump for around 40 minutes. The conversation, considered productive by both parties, focused on the trade agenda between the two countries and on strengthening cooperation against international organized crime.

According to Planalto, Lula assessed as positive the removal of the additional 40% tariff that affected Brazilian products such as meat, coffee and fruit. He stated that there are still sensitive sectors subject to surcharges and that Brazil wants to speed up negotiations to alleviate these costs.
