In the week after carnival, the Mercosur-EU agreement should go to the plenary, says rapporteur

The rapporteur for the Mercosur and European Union Agreement in the Mercosur Parliament, deputy Arlindo Chinaglia (PT-SP), stated that the Chamber should hold a vote on the project in the week after Carnival. The statements took place this Monday, 9th, after a meeting of the college of leaders with the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB).

According to Chinaglia, in the case of an international agreement, the National Congress can only approve or reject the text, without changes to the content. First, the proposal will be considered in the Mercosur Parliament, this Tuesday, 10th, at 10am. According to the deputy, any member of the commission can submit a request for a review within five days.

“Once approved in Parlasul, it will go to plenary the week after carnival. Someone can ask for a review. If that happens, we will give it a look and it will not change the forecast for us to vote next week in the commission and vote the week after carnival in the plenary”, he declared.
