Left manifestation focused on Congress Mira in Bolsonaro and Tarcisio
The demonstration called by governors for Thursday, 10, in front of the MASP, originally intended to press Congress on guidelines such as taxation of super rich, exemption from income tax and end of the 6 × 1 scale. The act, however, also became a protest against Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and Governor Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans-SP) due to the taxation in 50% of Brazilian products by the US.
The event, which began around 6 pm, was attended by 15,000 protesters, according to the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (Cebrap). The number is higher than the last Bolsonarist demonstration, held on July 30, which had 12,400 participants.
Federal Deputy Guilherme Boulos (PSOL-SP), during the call, called militants to protest “against the privileges protected by the center and the far right.” However, after the announcement of surcharge of national products, the parliamentarian changed the motto and adopted the message “Brazil to Brazilians”. “More than ever, tomorrow is a street!” Boulos published on his X (former Twitter) profile after the taxation.
During the event, protesters shouted “out of Tarcisio,” criticizing the São Paulo governor who came out in defense of Bolsonaro after Donald Trump’s announcement. The politician stated in his X profile that “only the people could judge Bolsonaro” and had lunch with the former president on Thursday, consolidating his support.
“Here are the real patriots, not who is the traitor of the country, not who uses national symbol to conspire against the country. It is an act in defense of Brazil, the Brazilian people,” said Boulos during the demonstration. The politician also criticized Tarcisio and said he “should ask for votes in Miami” in the next elections.
The speech of “We Against them”, adopted by the government, also manifested itself in the act. Through tracks with sayings such as “Enemy Congress of the People”, “Congress of Mamata” and “rotten Congress” protesters endorsed the strategy that opposes the Executive to the Legislature.
