Lula defends the end of fossil fuel, but ‘will not give up for others to explore’

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Friday 4, will be favorable to the end of the use of fossil fuel, but will not give up Brazilian oil to “others explore”.

“I will not give up the Brazilian oil for others to explore. I want us to do the healthier and responsible way possible. We do not want to harm anything, but we do not want to give up our wealth,” he said in Duque de Caxias (RJ), during Petrobras investment announcement in refining and petrochemical.

Lula said he was proud of Petrobras and that a responsible energy transition is needed.

“There are people who say: ‘Let’s end fossil fuel.’ I am also favorable to end. When we do to the fossil fuel the financing for the so -called energy transition we have to do,” he said.

The president defended more research investments to “find more gas and more oil”. He also said that Petrobras is a compass for economics. According to the petista, he is the president who most visited the company.

“I have dimension of what Petrobras is. It’s not just an oil company. It’s a kind of compass of the Brazilian economy. Petrobras goes well, the economy is going well,” he said.

The petista also said that investments can help in the economy. He returned to the gas concession program for the population and a motorcycle financing program for application delivery.

“Call us populist. ‘It’s interfering in the market.’ I want to interfere with the market to lower the price of food,” he said.

Lula also said that Petrobras president Magda Chambriard seems to be “silly” but has a “poison -treated intelligence.”

“Magda, I’m fascinated by her presidency. Who sees Magda thinks: ‘It’s a silly president, let’s get you able to get her.’ It’s screwed. You don’t know the amount of poison -treated intelligence in this woman’s head,” he said.
