President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) published on social networks on Sunday (10) the moment of planting a seedling of baobá on the ground of the palace of Alvorada, official residence of the presidency, in Brasilia. According to Lula, the idea is for the plant to make future occupants of his position have “judgment.”

“We give Mother Nature a new plant for our address, which is called Baobá, which has a lot of history and much of the ancestry of our African people. This is a symbol of life, resistance, a lot of strength, health and joy,” said the president.

“I hope this baobab flourishes here in the palace of Alvorada, grow up to make people living here have judgment, commitment and willingness to help Brazil grow to be the same size as this plant will be,” he said. The baobabs can reach up to 30 meters high and have trunks up to seven meters in diameter.

“Each time someone leans this tree, he’ll be out of here more filed. That’s why we’re planting her here,” he added.

Earlier, the first lady Rosângela da Silva, Janja, posted a video next to Lula on Instagram where they talk about various fruits. The president comments that the palace’s cashew feet “do not give cashew” and asks people to send new cashew seedlings as well as Sapotizeiro and Umbuzeiro.

“I will plant everything here for those who come to live in Dawn has abundance of fruits in the Northeast to eat,” he explained. Then he highlighted, in a good mood: “But I don’t have to receive more than the land to plant here.”
