Lula says Bolsonaro “knows he has done the nonsense he is being accused”

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) again criticized the search for former executive chief, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), by amnesty for the attacks of January 8, 2023 in Brasilia. During a news conference at Vietnam, at the end of his trip through Asia, Lula said it was impressive for the defense to ask Bolsonaro to ask Bolsonaro instead of trying to acquit him. “He is not wanting or defending himself because he knows, in his subconscious, that he has made all the nonsense he is being accused,” said Lula.
During this week’s trial at the Supreme Federal Court (STF), which made defendants the former president and seven allies, Bolsonaro’s defense argued that the former president did not sign any scam hallmark or participated in the acts of 8 January.
In Vietnam, Lula stated that “amnesty” is not a priority in the political environment and did not talk to Congress leaders, Hugo Motta, the House, and David Alcolumbre, from the Senate, on the subject. “I think amnesty is not the main theme at this moment. There is a lot of important things in the National Congress that I want to discuss. And that is what when I return to Brazil I will talk to Hugo and alcohubre,” he said. “I’m sure amnesty is not a main theme for anyone, except for those who are blaming themselves.”

With the receipt of the complaint on Wednesday, 26, they began to respond to PGR’s accusations in court. By early May, STF will still evaluate the opening of criminal actions against 26 more people reported by the Attorney.
Bolsonaro speaks in favor of a bill that amnesty those arrested for the acts of vandalism of 8 January. According to the score of Estadão’s amnesty, there are 191 votes in favor of amnesty. Of the 513 federal deputies sought for the survey, 421 responded. There are 126 parliamentarians contrary to the project, while 104 did not want to answer. There are also federal deputies who are favorable to forgiveness to prisoners or softer penalties to those involved in vandalism, but are contrary to the proposal if it contemplates Jair Bolsonaro.
Lula ended his trip to Vietnam when speaking at the closing of the Brazil-Vietnam Economic Forum. The petista stated that, in addition to the goal of double the trade between countries, there is the potential to triple the current value of the flow. In addition, he made a veiled criticism of Donald Trump, citing the threat of protectionism to global trade.
