Lula will inaugurate José Guimarães at SRI this Tuesday (14)
Federal deputy José Guimarães (PT-CE) takes office this Tuesday (14), at 12 pm, as the new minister of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations (SRI). The department is responsible for the government’s political coordination, both with Congress and with other entities of the federation.
The information was confirmed by the Secretariat of Social Communication (Secom) this Monday (13). President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will participate in the ceremony at Palácio do Planalto.
To be SRI minister, Guimarães gave up being a candidate this year. He was a pre-candidate for the Senate in Ceará. If he did not run for the Upper House of Congress, he could be a candidate for re-election. Now, he will have to stay in the ministry until the end and give up having an elected position next year.
