Moraes sabotages diplomacy, says Trump lawyer after Bolsonaro arrested
“Excesses” made by Moraes were responsible for triggering the economic crisis between Brazil and the USA, says the lawyer. He also said that today’s decision is a sign that “Moraes is doing his best to prove why he was sanctioned” and suggested that the country “put its house in order”, without explaining what that phrase means.
In a second post, the lawyer was even more emphatic and repeated the American mantra of “witch hunt”. He said it was an “insult” and “disrespect” against Trump. “The morning after the relaxation of American tariffs on Brazil — tariffs originally imposed in part due to the political persecution of Jair Bolsonaro — Alexandre de Moraes took this witch hunt to a completely new level,” he wrote.
The lawyer highlighted that the decision attacks the White House. “It is difficult to imagine a more gratuitous insult to Donald Trump and Secretary Rubio,” he wrote.
Donald Trump said he didn’t know about Bolsonaro’s arrest and said it was ‘a shame’. At an event at the White House, the president said he was surprised by the information about the arrest. When he imposed taxes on Brazil in the first half of the year, the Republican cited Jair Bolsonaro’s judgment by name, threatening to impose even more taxes during the process.
De Luca is a lawyer for Trump Media and the social network Rumble, the target of a legal dispute involving Moraes. Communication companies accuse the STF minister of censoring content published on these networks in Brazil.
At De Luca’s request, the Florida Court requested Alexandre de Moraes’ subpoena in July. Rumble was suspended in Brazil at the request of Moraes.
