Nikolas stands out to try to approve amnesty for those convicted of the 8/1 acts

Federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) stated this Friday, 10th, that the strategy to try to approve an amnesty for those convicted of the acts of January 8th will be to highlight the project reported by Paulinho da Força (Solidariedade-SP) and dubbed by him as “PL of dosimetry”. The text was left out of next week’s agenda by the president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB).

In an interview with Canal UOL, Nikolas Ferreira recognized the resistance of the government and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to the broad amnesty defended by Bolsonarists. The agenda also saw a drop in popular support, according to surveys.

“So, the possibility we have is to highlight it. I don’t know what the rapporteur’s project will be, if it will include something, an amnesty as we wish, but there is the possibility of highlighting it”, said Nikolas. Paulinho has already declared that amnesty is “not a possibility” in his opinion.

Highlighting allows you to vote separately on an amendment or part of a proposition, so that changes can be made to the text to be approved.

According to him, the government’s base should vote against the amnesty, but some parliamentarians have become aware of the issue. “That the PT will vote against, that’s a fact. Now, I think it’s possible (to approve a highlight), because the deputies have been sensitized. I make it very clear here that I know it’s very difficult to fight against someone who has the machine in hand like Lula does.”

Nikolas also accused the STF of interfering in the duties of the National Congress. “It is very difficult for you to fight against an institution like the STF, which actively works in Congress. This is absurd. I don’t know how this is not talked about here in Brazil in the context of a scandal. Because the STF ministers are on the path to drafting the amnesty”, he stated.
