“Now there are experts”: Lula changes name and relaunches SUS program with private network
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva signs, this Friday (30), a provisional measure to expand specialized care in the Unified Health System (SUS). In practice, the act relaunches the ‘Most Access to Experts’ program of 2024, renamed ‘now experts’, after a year without significant policy results.
The ceremony takes place with the participation of the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha.
The idea is for the ministry to send patients to be treated at clinics and private hospitals, which will receive the possibility of slaughtering debts with the federal government. The MP foresees two types of hiring of private hospitals: for tabulated service in SUS and for exchange of debt. The latter will have a ceiling of $ 2 billion per year.

In the first mode, hospitals will be hired to perform services offered by SUS in the areas of ophthalmology, cardiology, otorhine, pediatrics, gynecology and oncology. The payment and supply of services will be based on the SUS table.
The second modality is the exchange of debt of hospitals for providing services to the government. Today, the debt is estimated at $ 70 billion. For this mode, the government has stipulated a ceiling of $ 2 billion per year.
New positions in Anvisa
The MP also creates 319 new effective positions at the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) to control and evaluate the new network equipment. The creation of new positions occurs after approval by the National Congress on Wednesday of a bill that recomposes the salary of the servers and allows the restructuring of careers, including the creation of new positions in the government.
The approval of the text was seen as a strategy to take advantage of the MP text that expand specialized service to also increase the posts that will be needed for inspection. The cost of the teams will come by Anvisa’s budget.
Government showcase
Lula expects this to be the new government showcase program in the health area and complained about the delay in seeing results of the initiative-one of the reasons that led former minister Nísia Trindade to be replaced.
As revealed The globe In March, the average waiting time for a SUS consultation has never been so long. Numbers from the Ministry of Health obtained via Access to Information Law (LAI) show that patients had to wait, on average, almost two months (57 days) to be treated in 2024.
