Pakistan police arrests 160 people for attacks against the KFC network
“A total of 20 incidents were registered throughout Pakistan, with a fatal victim. The man was a KFC employee,” said Interior Deputy Minister Talal Chaudhry, at a news conference on Saturday.
The employee was shot dead at a KFC unit in the Lahore region, the capital of Punjab province last Sunday.
A police source told AFP that it is not yet clear what was the reason for the shooting, nor is it related to recent protests.
Chaudhry reported that 145 people were arrested in Punjab province and 15 in the country’s capital, Islamabad.
“Restaurants get all their products locally, employ Pakistani and their revenues remain within the country,” he added.
Kfc and the holding company that operates the brand, yum! Brands, did not respond to requests for comments.
