Pressured, President of the Post Office asks for resignation; position is coveted by alcohumbre

The president of the Post Office, Fabiano Silva, resigned on Friday, 4. The company registered a loss of R $ 1.7 billion in the first quarter of this year and for a long time Silva had been pressured to leave office. The center is keeping an eye on the command of the state -owned company.

Silva’s dismissal letter was handed over to the Planalto Palace to the head of the personal office of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Marco Aurélio Santana Ribeiro, Marcola. The president is in Rio, where he participates in the BRICS summit. The dismissal will only be made official after meeting between Lula and Silva, next week.

Senate President David Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP) tries to get allies in the Post Office and Banco do Brasil (BB). Alcolumbre has already talked about it with Lula. So far, however, he resists replacing BB president Tarciana Medeiros, who is well evaluated in the Planalto Palace.

The breakthrough in the post office and changes made by Silva in the state -owned company, however, contradicted the interests of transport companies and even Congress.

Estadão found that the chief minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, also wanted the exchange of Fabiano Silva and recently had a rough discussion with him. The chat began when Costa demanded a spending cutting plan that included resignation from employees and drumming from agencies in the country. The situation was unsustainable because Silva once again disagreed with the head of the Civil House.

The post office ended 2024 with a loss of R $ 2.6 billion, four times higher than the previous year, of R $ 597 million. Until then, the worst result of the company had been in 2016, when the break reached approximately $ 1.5 billion.

A member of the Prerogatives Group, which brings together PT lawyers, Silva attributed the damage of the company last year to the taxation of international purchases. The tax of up to US $ 50, created for import imports and known as the “blouses rate”, caused disastrous consequences for the state -owned company.

Wastened and under an avalanche of criticism, Silva always said that, added to this factor, the result of the post office also had an impact, to this day, the inheritance received from the government of Jair Bolsonaro.
