Russian attack in Ukraine ‘exceeds the limits of decency,’ say US
Missiles hit streets, residential and school buildings, as well as various vehicles. Sumy is in northeastern Ukraine, a few kilometers from the border with Russia and the Russian region of Kursk, the stage last year of a Ukrainian foray that Moscow troops could only repel recently.
The European Union called ‘barbaric attack’. European Commission Chairman Von Der Leyen said in a X -publication that the offensive “became even more vile when people gathered peacefully to celebrate Branches Sunday.”
Two of the 32 victims were children, local authorities said. Another 99 people would have been injured by the attack, according to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.
“Russia hit the city center with ballistic missiles, just as there were many people on the street,” said rescue services on social networks.
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski spoke of a “terrible attack with missiles” with “dozens of dead and wounded.” “And that on a day when people go to church on Ramos Sunday,” he said.
