Streets and public land in SP enter the market: Jardins area is worth R$ 16 million

The City of São Paulo published, this Monday (6), the law that allows the auction and sale of municipal areas and public roads. The measure, sanctioned by Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB), changes the status legal status of at least six addresses in the capital, which are no longer considered common property to become property ownership, a category that authorizes sale to the private sector.

Among the disincorporated properties is the Engenheiro Antônio de Souza Barros Júnior street, in Jardins, an upscale region of the capital. The site, a dead-end road between Rua Pamplona and Alameda Lorena, has 647 m² and was valued at R$16 million. The expectation is that the section will be acquired by a neighboring luxury condominium.

The text also includes land on Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Lima, another close to Rodovia Anhanguera and an area on Avenida Cônego José Salomon, in Pirituba, which will be granted to the Gomes de Basquete Institute for sporting activities. The fate of the area in Faria Lima, one of the city’s most valued regions, was not detailed in the law.

The largest of the disaffected areas is in Guaianazes, in the east zone. On the 25.6 thousand m² plot, located on Keia Nakamura Street, the city hall intends to build 720 affordable housing units within the municipal housing policy.

Other spaces, such as an area of ​​5,200 m² on Rua Luiz Pereira Rebouças, north zone, were allocated to local cultural and sports associations.

Vetoes and exclusions

Ricardo Nunes vetoed three sections of the original project, which had received amendments from councilors with the inclusion of new streets. Among the areas removed from the list are Rua América Central, in Santo Amaro, and Rua Canoal, in Morumbi.

According to the city hall’s justification, the vetoes were applied because the proposals did not present technical studies or public interest justifications.
