Tarcísio will be the candidate, says Kassab when asked about being vice-president in SP

The national president of the PSD, Gilberto Kassab, said that he will accept to join the São Paulo governor, Tarcísio de Freitas, for re-election in 2026, if invited. “I am ready to respond to any invitation or call,” he said in an interview with Canal Livre, from Band. He avoided answering directly whether he will be vice-president and said that the decision is up to the governor: “The person who will make up the ticket is Governor Tarcísio, his decision will be respected by us”.

Kassab, who is Tarcísio’s Secretary of Government and Institutional Relations, also said that he “likes running for elections”. “I don’t know if I will run for others, but if I have the opportunity, I will run as a candidate,” he stated.

In the interview, the PSD president also said that he expects the party to elect between 85 and 90 federal deputies in 2026, in addition to six to nine senators. Given the positive expectation, Kassab said that he does not need to link the choice of the PSD candidate for President to Congress. “We will be very well positioned,” he stated.
