Holocaust memorial and synagogues are vandalized in Paris
“Horrified” by this “coordinated anti -Semitic attack,” said Israel’s embassy in France, which stressed the current tensions between the two countries about the war in Gaza.
“We cannot ignore the problematic discord observed in these last two weeks between certain leaders and representatives,” the embassy said in a statement.
“I am deeply outraged by these hateful acts directed against the Jewish community,” French interior minister Bruno Retailleau wrote in X.
Last week, Retailleau asked for “visible and dissuasive” security measures in places associated with the Jewish community amid concerns about possible anti -Semitic acts.
In a separate message accessed by AFP, the minister ordered again on Friday reinforced surveillance measures before the next Jewish holiday in Shavuot.
The French Jewish community, one of the largest in the world, has been on alert for months due to the increasing number of memorial attacks and desecration since the beginning of the Gaza War on October 7, 2023.
