Motta: There is only point voting on the Budget after solving the fiscal problem
The president of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), assessed this Tuesday, 21st, that “it only makes sense” for the House to vote on the 2026 Budget Guidelines Bill “after resolving the fiscal problem”. “So as not to have to vote to change the target”, he said, upon leaving the House at the end of the day.
The indication comes amid the finalization, by the Ministry of Finance, of alternative proposals to the provisional measure alternative to the increase in the Tax on Financial Operations (IOF).
The MP expired at the beginning of the month, after deputies decided to remove the topic from the agenda. The Treasury has since been studying other measures to close the accounts. The expectation is that the department will send such proposals – related, for example, to PIS/Cofins and defense insurance rules – to Congress this week.
