Scale 6×1: deputy from União Brasil assumes rapporteur for a proposal in the Chamber’s CCJ
Representative Paulo Azi (União-BA) was appointed rapporteur this Tuesday, at the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Chamber of Deputies, of the proposed amendment to the Constitution that changes the working day model known as the 6×1 scale, in which the employee works six consecutive days for one of rest. The announcement was made by President Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB).
The PEC proposes changes to the constitutional text to reduce the weekly working hours and modify the current logic for organizing labor rest. Before proceeding to discuss the merits, the text must go through the CCJ, responsible for analyzing only the legal and constitutional admissibility of the matter.
If the opinion is favorable, the PEC will go to a special committee, where deputies will be able to discuss the content of the proposal and present changes. Only after this phase can the text be taken to the Chamber plenary.
Azi has not yet indicated a deadline for presenting the report, but CCJ interlocutors say that the deputy must begin consultations with the benches before concluding the opinion. The expectation is that the text will leave the board in March.
The deputy is a trusted name for Motta, having even chaired the commission last year.
The discussion about the end of the 6×1 scale has mobilized trade unions and parliamentarians from the government base, while facing resistance from business sectors, which warn of possible impacts on costs and productivity. The advancement of the proposal occurs at a time when Congress leaders seek to position themselves in debates with strong social repercussions, on the eve of the 2026 electoral cycle.
