Janja says he suffered harassment twice during the Lula government
First lady Rosângela Lula da Silva, known as Janja, revealed that she had been harassed twice during the term of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The statement was made this Tuesday, 3rd, in an interview with the Sem Censura program, on TV Brasil.
“I, as first lady, have no security where I am or anywhere,” Janja said. “I can say that I have been harassed during this period twice. As first lady, being in places that I think are safe and, even so, I was harassed.”

The theme of the program’s edition was the fight against feminicide, an agenda defined as a priority by Palácio do Planalto and President Lula’s electoral flag. Without giving further details about the episodes, Janja used the example to defend women’s vulnerability to this type of violence.
“If I, as First Lady, have a whole team around me, a look, cameras, care, you imagine a woman at a bus stop at ten o’clock at night”, concluded Janja.
Combating femicide
Janja will promote, with the Brazilian government, the fight against femicide at the United Nations during the 70th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70).
The main UN women’s meeting takes place in New York, in the United States, between March 9 and 19, and will also be attended by the Minister of Women, Márcia Lopes, leading the delegation and preparations.
President Lula gathered, at the beginning of this month, some of the Republic’s main authorities for a ceremony to sign a pact to combat feminicide and violence against women. In practice, few new measures were announced. The event had a symbolic character, functioning as a kind of commitment by the heads of the Three Powers to actions to combat gender-based crimes.
