Bolsonaro’s defense sends medical reports to the STF that indicate shoulder surgery
Lawyers for former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) sent two medical opinions to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) indicating that the former chief executive needs to undergo surgery on his right shoulder. Bolsonaro is under temporary house arrest after leaving hospital for pneumonia. Before that, he served his sentence in the 19th Military Police Battalion, known as Papudinha, in Brasília.
In one of the documents, physiotherapist Kleber Caiado de Freitas reports that the condition is one of “intense pain” with an indication for surgical treatment. According to him, Bolsonaro has already undergone orthopedic evaluation and exams. “In this context, the beginning of physiotherapeutic monitoring in the preoperative phase was indicated,” he says. Services have been held at the former president’s residence since March 30th.
“In view of the above, it is concluded that the patient is in the pre-operative phase, with significant pain and significant functional limitation of the affected upper limb, which, at the moment, restricts the progression to more active physiotherapeutic interventions”, states the physiotherapist.
In another report, doctor Brasil Caiado says that Bolsonaro has “intermittent pain in his right shoulder”, with instructions to maintain continuous use of painkillers.
The reports were sent to the STF following a demand from Minister Alexandre de Moraes, to regularly send documents about the former president’s health. Bolsonaro was sentenced by the Court in September last year to 27 years and three months in prison for attempting a coup d’état.
