Lula says the world is difficult and that Trump “is there threatening everyone”

Iberdrola president Ignacio Galán met with president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva during the Spain-Brazil bilateral summit in Barcelona on Friday (17), the company said.

At the meeting, Galán highlighted the strategic importance of the country for the future of its activities. The executive also conveyed to Lula the group’s commitment to the country, having made investments of almost R$40 billion in the last four years.

Iberdrola is the Spanish company that controls Neoenergia, Brazil’s largest company in electrical distribution, with more than 17 million customers and concessions in the states of Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul, in addition to the federal capital, Brasília.

At the moment, the company is in the process of renewing distribution concessions in Brazil, including Neoenergia Coelba (BA), Neoenergia Cosern (RN) and Neoenergia Elektro (SP and MS).

The president of Iberdrola told Lula that, once the renewal of the concessions is confirmed, the company intends to continue investing significantly in the coming years, according to a company statement.

The focus is to continue expanding and modernizing the networks of all its distributors and electrifying areas such as western Bahia, in order to provide access to “safe, competitive and clean energy for homes and industries, such as agribusiness”, according to the note.

Including electricity generation, transmission and distribution assets, Neoenergia is present in 18 Brazilian states and the Federal District and has more than 725 thousand kilometers of electrical distribution lines and 8 thousand kilometers of transmission lines, in addition to 3,600 MW of renewable generation, mainly hydroelectric.
