Ciro Gomes confuses the gesture of a supporter with an apology for the CV and explains himself on the networks
The pre-candidate for the government of Ceará, Ciro Gomes, (PSDB) explained himself on social media after confusing the gestures of a supporter with an apology for the Comando Vermelho (CV) faction and calling for the man’s arrest during the launch of his pre-candidacy. He said he viewed what happened in a good-humored way.
“The gesture was repeated and the person would undo it every time I looked at it. I interpreted it as a provocation. Therefore, I didn’t hesitate and reacted without fear, as is my style. And then I really wanted to laugh at my mistake”, says the former minister in a video published on Instagram last Sunday, the 17th.
PL calls meeting with Flávio Bolsonaro and parliamentarians after crisis with Master
The meeting was called for this Tuesday and takes place amid criticism from allies about the way Flávio has communicated about the crisis
DC withdraws Aldo Rebelo’s candidacy and announces Joaquim Barbosa as pre-candidate
In a note, Rebelo criticized the party’s attitude and stated that he maintains his pre-candidacy even in the face of the announcement of another name
According to him, the reaction was the result of the crime scenario in the State. “The government’s omission and complicity have made our people hostage to organized crime,” he wrote in the caption.
During the event, Ciro addressed the supporter. “My brother, are you wanting to be arrested? It’s going to start here. The guy is making the Red Command symbol there. Arrest him”, he said at the time. He then recanted.
“In fractions of a second, the audience and the always attentive Gisele, the love of my life, by my side, corrected me. They said that what the person wanted to express would be the initial of my name, C, associated with the word victory, V. I quickly apologized for this mistake, for this gaffe, as the elegant people call it”, he commented in the publication.
Ciro Gomes took the opportunity to criticize the current management of Ceará. “I was referring to the tragic condition experienced by the people of Ceará, today dominated by criminal factions that oppress our population. All of this is the result of the absurd omission and complicity of the current rulers”, he stated, referring to governor Elmano de Freitas (PT) and former governor Camilo Santana (PT).
According to a Genial/Quaest survey released at the end of April, Ciro appears with 41% of voting intentions in the first round, compared to 32% for Elmano de Freitas. When Camilo Santana is included in the scenario, the PT leader leads with 40%, compared to 33% for Ciro.
For the second round, Camilo has 44% of voting intentions, against 39% for Ciro, which is considered a technical tie within the margin of error. In a confrontation against Elmano, Ciro appears numerically ahead, with 46% against 35%.
